Full equipment is required for all hockey programs.  All the equipment is for your players safety and helps them to dress and play as they would as they advance up the age divisions.   Starhawks Youth Hockey has loaner equipment to help players try hockey, so please feel free to contact us about this option at contact.starhawks@gmail.com

Here is a list of full equipment:

  • Helmet (HECC approved *) with cage
  • Mouth Guard (suggested, but not required)
  • Neck Guard (suggested, but not required)
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Elbow Pads
  • Hockey Gloves
  • Hockey shirt
  • Pants
  • Shin Guards
  • Cup/Jock/Shorts (different versions for under the pants - look for Velcro tabs to support socks)
  • Socks (to cover the shin guards)
  • Hockey Skates

There are several local stores with hockey equipment, for example:

  • Kleen 'n Hard Sports (Worcester, MA) - New and Used Sports Equipment
  • Pure Hockey (Berlin, MA)
  • Sports Authority (Milford, MA)
  • Dicks Sporting Goods (Northborough, MA)

*USA hockey requires the use of HECC approved helmets by all participants in all age classifications. "HECC" stands for the “Hockey Equipment Certification Council” and they are responsible for certifying hockey equipment.  Helmets that meet the certification criteria will be clearly marked with the HECC seal.  Your player's helmet should have this on the back side.
